DigitalFuel.com.au is excited to announce the appointment of Oliver Liebscher as the company’s new Head of Design.
Oliver, or Oli to his friends, joined the Digital Fuel Team in November 2014. He brings a rich background in graphic design work to the table, specifically for the online industry. His previous creative roles have included Web Designer, Web Developer, and in early 2012, his career stepped up to the next rung on the management ladder, when he first held the title “Head of Design” for online gaming’s Betfred.com.
With over 10 years experience working in web design, Oli spent the past four of those honing his skills specifically within the gaming industry at both Totesport and Betfred. Joining Betfred in October 2010 as a Web Designer/UI/IA, he was responsible for creating promotional materials for the core businesses, and for their Affiliate Marketing team, as well as fulfilling all Mobile and CRM web design requirements. Here, he polished his proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash, and gained solid experience in Front-end Development, particularly in HTML, CSS, and Jquery, and built and maintained their HTML email templates. Oli also took on the task of Website wireframing, and the important role of user experience planning.
In February 2012, Betfred rewarded Oli for his hard work and professionalism by bestowing on him the new senior title of Head of Design, which he held until recently. In this capacity, Oli managed a team of eight designers. He excelled as a team leader, while delivering quality design work of his own that supported the Betfred.com brand across Website, Mobile, the Betfred Affiliate program, CRM initiatives, and Social Media.
While managing the needs of Betfred.com, Oli also worked across a number of Betfred brands, including Totesport and Bucky Bingo. He is accustomed to juggling the needs of various business units and brand identities to tight timeframes and always delivering on deadline. In addition to brand management and creative direction for Betfred.com, he also managed usability research for the company, enlisting tools such as UserZoom, Crazy Egg, and Google A/B to gain precious insight.
In a nutshell, Oli is a passionate designer, exceptional at inspiring his work colleagues to excel in their own roles, and someone who brings a breadth of knowledge and expertise across multiple platforms – Web, Mobile, Tablet, CRM, Social and more.
With a background in computer science, he is an avid believer in the use of analytics and A/B Testing to support design work. This makes Oli a perfect fit for his current role as Head of Design for Digital Fuel Marketing Ltd.
Joining Digital Fuel, Oli is responsible for managing all creative output for Digital Fuel across the Affiliate Network, PPC, and advertising campaigns. He will be required to work with multiple clients, brands, and industries both in the UK, and internationally. The production of all marketing materials across multiple channels – Web, Mobile, CRM, Print – also fall into Oli’s portfolio of daily duties.
“I’m really excited to get stuck into the day-to-day design work at Digital Fuel, to start making a difference to the company’s creative output, and to steer its visual reputation externally amongst current and prospective clients,” said Liebscher.
“I know that I can continue to learn and grow in this role, and I’m just really happy that I get to do so alongside such a professional, skilled, and fun crew as Digital Fuel.”
“Oli brings a wealth of experience to the table, and we are particularly impressed with the fact that he is not just a talented creative mind and designer, but that he also is a strong strategic thinker with an analytical mind. That’s a rare combination of qualities in the area of design, and one that will serve us well in our line of business,” said Digital Fuel’s Founder and CEO, Toby Oddy.
“Digital Fuel is on the brink of recognition as one of the most innovative and cutting edge digital marketing agencies around, and we’re thrilled that Oli not only will be part of continuing to build that reputation, but that he will be a driving force behind it, and in propelling our company forward to greater heights creatively,” added Oddy.
At Digital Fuel, it’s early days yet, but already Oli is making his presence felt and appreciated by the Team. His experience dealing with external agencies and third party clients is a bonus for Digital Fuel, and their partners. This means that if you are working with Digital Fuel, and you need some design work done, there’s a high chance your paths will cross, and Oli will liaise with you to deliver all your creative requirements.
If you happen to spend any amount of time with him, you’ll also discover some pretty interesting facts about Oli outside of office hours. He is a keen ‘biker’ – mountain bikes, road bikes, motorbikes, really any kind of bikes. He doesn’t discriminate. He loves them all, and he currently owns five of the two-wheeled vehicles. He is also really into living an outdoor lifestyle, which includes a passion for climbing and skiing in his spare time.
Travel is also high on Oli’s list of great loves, and he has spent many adventurous hours exploring North, Central, and South America, Australasia, and parts of Asia and Africa. He counts Guatemala as his favorite country so far. He also happened to live in Spain for 4 years from 2010-2014 during his time with Betfred.com, and is happy to say he can now speak Spanish.
